Huh, thought there was a Facebook page for the garden. Anyway, here’s what the hydrant looks like now in operation.

Also.. I tightened the eastern cap hard, it was leaking quite a bit at first, but now it doesn’t, just the jet from the hole. The western cap is not super tight, so as to be removed easily. Del and I finished the watering that was interrupted by the water dept. guys. I will say that the direct leakage into the yard seems to be maybe 1/10th or less of what it was. It’s a trickle from the top, instead of gushes from the side and both caps.
