Merchant Park Community Garden

Here is the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting. If anything needs to be added, let me know! Please note: the last item on the agenda is committee updates. If you’re a committee chair, please be prepared to give an update (even if there is no update!) If you can’t make it, please send me your committee’s update (a.kauth@comcast.net)

Review of Action Items from past meetings:
• “Market an online flyer around our online contacts and neighborhoods to encourage prospective gardeners to come to a general meeting in January”
• Erin — WIC / food donations
• Ann – fruit trees
• Ron – calendar for the year
• Bob — lumber companies for wood / fasteners
• Ann — Park District / plastic timbers
• Jane — contact City of Chicago, Forest Preserve, Cook County and other gardens about woodchips
• Bob – talk to Bruce re: landscape fabric
• Jerry to find where to source rain barrels and installation info (how high off the ground etc). Bryan may have information.
• Jane — verify with Lauren the length of fencing they provisioned for in their recommendations
• Jane – contact Lauren re: proof of concept + photographs of the concrete wall idea in the plans
• Erin – contact recycling centers about donations (types of stuff / can we use any of it?)
• Report from committees
• Bruce – fence material pricing
• Donny – can we cut / fasten together existing timbers to make 8’ lengths?

Update on NeighborSpace Application – Ann

Application season
• Per by-laws, applications should be available as of Feb 1 / deadline is March 15th for fee payment
• If you want to change your plot, contact Veronica (~March 21st there will be a swap meet if there is anyone wanting to change plots)
